Pantone weren’t wrong when they forecast Rose Quartz as one of their colour’s of 2016. Pastel pinks have become increasingly popular of the past few seasons, and this Spring is no exception. So today, I thought I’d share my favourite styling tips and advice for incorporating pastel pink into your everyday wardrobe and for your personal style. Enjoy! 🙂
A Subtle Hint
Pink can sometimes prove challenging to incorporate into an everyday outfit, especially if pink isn’t to your taste. Although there are simple yet effective ways of doing so, if you’re eager to experiment with the trend but not quite interested in a pink trench coat or suit for example. This is where accessories come into play. Bags and jewelry are the perfect way of experimenting without too much fuss or drawing unwanted attention to yourself. Trendy neck scarfs (aka bandanas), are another chic way of adding elegance and a pop of subtle colour to a monochrome ensemble.
Bold & Brave
If you’re keen to ‘go all out’, so to speak, I’d suggest investing in playful and girly cuts for a feminine vibe… Think statement garments – a pussy bow blouse is perfect, as well pleated maxi and midi skirts. Also bold accessories are just as effective and when styled on mass (correctly), can create an elegant look perfect for fashion week, a brunch date or shopping trip with the girls. To dress down this look, I’d suggest swapping heels for metallic or white sneakers or tassel flats. Also never underestimate a change in hairstyle and makeup. By mixing up your look you can create multiple outfits, each one unique and suitable to various occasions.
For a bold and statement pink ensemble, I’d recommend pairing a pyjama inspired silk twin set with minimalist monochrome accessories and makeup. Think a black or grey clutch or over the shoulder bag and neutral shoes, (I’d suggest flats or sneakers), and barely there jewelry. Hair wise, I’d suggest a classic chignon bun or statement top knot or half top knot. For more Pyjama style advice you might like my TREND ALERT: Pyjama Style blog post here.
I’d suggest pairing feminine loose fitting garments with statement accessories to create a street style ready ensemble. Edgy bomber jackets and leather jackets are a great way to dress down a rather formal outfit and can dress up an otherwise everyday outfit. They really are well worth the investment. Accessories wise think statement sunglasses: reflector shades and tortoiseshell are both iconic styles, and sneakers, (white, rose gold capped, blush, metallic – you name it!), work well too.
Looking for a way to wear this trend into the office? I’d suggest a modern take on a business suit or sharp seperates. Too much? They don’t have to be matching to make a style statement. I’d suggest introducing the colour into your wardrobe gradually, think sleek blouses, a sharp blazer or trench, and/or pastel brogues… After all it’s the little details that create a staple outfit.
