HOW-TO: Create the Ultimate Staycation

Opening my Instagram feed to new and exciting inspo every morning is a luxury I sometimes take for granted. It is in those few minutes as I’m eating breakfast that I relax and feel inspired and get ready to face the day.

The pampering sessions, the travel destinations, the on point recipes, the list goes on and on! That’s why I thought I would share some of my favourite ways to recreate these luxury occasions in the comfort of your own home. I hope you enjoy it!

Take Time to Breathe

Embrace the holidays and make time for what you love! Whether it’s sleeping in for an extra hour (or more) than you usually do, or layering up and taking the dog for an early walk – the options are endless!

Get Creative in The Kitchen

If you find yourself with some spare time put your sleeve or are looking for some recipe ideas for an upcoming gathering, Pinterest is the best place to look – you can search for particular recipes or cuisines, and alter difficulty level as you search. It really is a great resource if you’re finding yourself short of cooking inspiration.

Shopping Trip

One of my favourite things to do in the holidays is go shopping with my girlfriends. Whether you’re window shopping or on a shopping spree, it’s so much fun and makes a great day out!

Pampering Session

Let’s face it – remember when you said you were going to have a bubble bath once a month, buy a new face mask, and/or get your nails done in that beautiful hue you’ve been seeing all over Instagram?! (Sound familiar?! I know it does to me!)

But it’s totally okay – that what the holidays are for!

So, pull out those bath bombs you’ve been saving for a rainy day or add a visit to Lush and The Body Shop to your list for your next shopping trip (see above). Enjoy! πŸ™‚

Girly Get-together

The holidays are a great time to catch up with friends! Whether you organise a dinner party, shopping trip (a favourite of mine!), a brunch at a groovy cafΓ©, or a sleep over.Β It can also be nice to have a theme – for example, everyone brings a platter of antipasto from the same cuisine, or has the wear a particular accessory (fedora anyone?).

Something I’d love to organise these holidays is to have a girly day where everyone brings beauty products they love and give each other makeovers. Why stop there – everyone could bring a plate of sweet treats, think cute pink cupcakes and macarons! πŸ™‚

Light a Scented Candle & Relax

Whether you enjoy getting lost in a novel, or being inspired by a style book – sit back and enjoy some time to yourself. I find lighting a scented candle makes the experience feel more luxurious. Ecoya and Diptyque are some favourites at the moment! πŸ™‚
