Although I’ve been posting every week, I feel like I haven’t written a more chatty & relaxed post for a little while, so I thought today I would share some of my goals for the month ahead and share some of my favourite things at the moment…
I’ve been planning on writing a lifestyle blog post on the secret art of hygge for quite a while now (in fact, since I discovered what it was – all will be explained in a second, I promise – which was well over a few months ago now -oops!)
Anyways, let me stop rambling and get to the point… 🙂
Hygge is a way of life…
Hygge doesn’t have one exact definition because it is a way of life. I bought a gorgeous little book all about Hygge which I’ve been enjoying reading before going to bed. After reading through the inspiring pages of wisdom, I’ve picked up on some common ground… Hygge is a Danish word often used to describe the feeling of cosiness and happiness, which in turn can be closely linked to wellness and self-care.
Although Hygge is present in our day to day lives regardless of the season, with the arrival of Winter (where I live), I thought it would be fitting to talk about it! 🙂
I don’t know about you, but I often find myself post-phoning relaxing luxuries I enjoy on a regular basis. For example – treating myself to a luscious scented bubble bath – who’s with me?! 🙂 Anyways, my point is, it can be so easy to find ourselves being caught up in everyday stresses and forgetting the little things.
Although these are the exact moments we should be cherishing… whether it be organising a casual get together with friends, treating yourself to a bubble bath, making yourself a yummy hot chocolate and curling up with a good book, putting on your pjs early and snuggling up on the sofa, the list is endless. These are the little moments which are the definition of hygge – what makes you happy and what makes memories! 🙂
How to make your home more hygge…
There is no golden rule on how to create a hygge home, only that your home should be a place you feel at peace and comfortable in. Whether this be by filling your home with whatever makes your heart sing (cliché I know, but it’s true!). It’s all about creating an atmosphere you feel you can be yourself in. A place you love and can spend hours relaxing in. Sometimes it helps to create a ‘nook’ – whether it be an area in your living room, bedroom or anywhere else which is full of your favourite belongings (and a good supply of chocolate!) 🙂
I will be focusing on some of my favourite ways to do this is in another lifestyle blog post soon! 🙂
On a more personal note…
There are many aspects of my day to day life that if I properly reflect on I can see the goodness with each moment. For example, this week has been even more action packed than usual for me (work wise) yet as soon as I finished my work today I was greeted with a delicious custard donut and a warm embrace. I believe it is these little moments which are the ones we should cherish the most! 🙂
I’m really looking forward to sharing more of my hygge inspired Winter activities and inspiration with you in the coming weeks, and hope you enjoyed this little introduction. Stay tuned lovelies… 🙂
What are your favourite ways to stay cosy in Winter?
Enjoy the long weekend!
